As Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day are fast approaching, a north-south intangible cultural heritage folk show has been held in Tangguantun town in Jinghai district, Tianjin, creating a festive atmosphere.
The event opened with a street parade. Drumbeats and dancing drew many residents, who stopped to watch and take photos.
At night, local folk performances took the stage. The cymbal performance was powerful; hand-held lion performances were lively; and dragon and lion dances added even more joy to the proceedings.
Intangible heritage teams from different regions also showcased their skills. Luozi dancers moved gracefully, multiple stilt teams performed steady, agile feats, box lanterns glowed, and the Qilin dancers expressed good wishes, showing the vitality of ancient traditions.
The most striking part was the meeting of northern and southern heritage. The Ansai Waist Drum Dance from northern Shaanxi province brought bold, exciting rhythms and energetic movements. Yingge dancers from Chaoshan in Guangdong province performed with forceful steps and flying sticks, displaying unity and courage.
Residents said they had rarely seen such a lively and complete folk performance, adding they were happy to enjoy heritage from all over China near their doorsteps. The event offered a rich cultural feast before the holidays and added more cultural energy to the beautiful countryside.
